18 Selections from Mother Goose’s Nursery Rhymes (1877)

As I Was Going to St. Ives

As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives,
Every wife had seven sacks,
Every sack had seven cats,
Every cat had seven kits.
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were there going to St. Ives?

Baa, Baa, Black Sheep

Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes, sir, yes, sir, three bags full:
One for my master, one for my dame,
And one for the little boy that lives in our lane.
Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any wool?
Yes, sir, yes, sir, three bags full.
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were there going to St. Ives?

Dickery, Dickery, Dock!

Dickery, dickery, dock!
The mouse ran up the clock;i
The clock struck one, and down the mouse ran,
Dickery, dickery, dock!

Hey, Diddle, Diddle

Hey, diddle, diddle, the cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
And the dish ran after the spoon.
