Media Bias

Don’t be Fooled by Media Bias

AllSides is a website that displays news from left, center, and right of the political spectrum side-by-side. You can learn more about the site here.

There are three articles from three different online sources on this page. Each are listed according to political lean. You can see visual representations of some of their rating work here. For example, according to All Sides, the publisher of Patch has a low confidence bias rating. See for yourself. It is up to the community to review, analyze, and vote their view. This is where you are going to participate.

Your assignment is to:

    • review the Types of Media Bias of AllSides.
    • explore the publication Patch.com You will need to review more than one article.
    • using the “Types of Media Bias” from AllSides, analyze Patch.com
    • write a good size paragraph or two (I am thinking 300 words) or create an audio podcast, make a slide presentation. You may be creative in how you communicate this information.
      • present your conclusion (thesis)
      • what led you to this conclusion.
      • You will need to describe the specific criteria used (Choose one, not 11)
      • present evidence to support your conclusion.
      • give a bias rating for the publication
      • write a concluding sentence
    • submit your assignment to the discussion board in D2L: Media Bias
    • return to AllSides and vote!
