Library, Databases and Searches 2

For this activity, you will find four sources for possible use in your essay. You are looking for articles on exactly the same aspect or detail, not just a topic.

You will use this worksheet to compare your choices.

You may use the search method of your choice to complete this worksheet. Yes, any search method. The purpose of this activity is find sources that match the topic/purpose of your research and that match each other. Start by placing one source from your original essay into column 1.

Step 1: Find three article you might use for this assignment. 

Analyze each article by asking yourself the following questions.

    • Who is responsible for creating this article?
    • When was the article created?
    • What is the topic?
    • What about bias?

Step 2: Compare the three articles; how are they different?

    • Who is the intended audience?
    • What is the title?
    • What is the focus or key aspect of the article?
    • What evidence is provided? for claims?

Step 3:

Using the LCC Library database, find a recent scholarly article on the same topic and note the author(s), title, journal, volume, date, and page numbers. How does the article compare to the information you found on the three websites?

Step 4:

Write a citation for one of the articles using MLA8.
