STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES (from Concourse):

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Define muscular strength and endurance.
  2. Identify health benefits of a resistance (weight) training program.
  3. Identify the major muscle groups.
  4. Demonstrate exercises that utilize the major muscle groups.
  5. Demonstrate breathing techniques that follow the American College of Sports Medicine guidelines during resistance training.
  6. Demonstrate safety and proper biomechanics when using weight equipment.
  7. Develop personal goals related to resistance training.
  8. Complete an exercise journal to document your personal resistance training program.
  9. Demonstrate warm-up and cool-down exercises that follow the American College of Sports Medicine guidelines.
