Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Define muscular strength and endurance.
- Identify health benefits of a resistance (weight) training program.
- Identify the major muscle groups.
- Demonstrate exercises that utilize the major muscle groups.
- Demonstrate breathing techniques that follow the American College of Sports Medicine guidelines during resistance training.
- Demonstrate safety and proper biomechanics when using weight equipment.
- Develop personal goals related to resistance training.
- Complete an exercise journal to document your personal resistance training program.
- Demonstrate warm-up and cool-down exercises that follow the American College of Sports Medicine guidelines.
